Since publishing our first book, Zara’s Big Messy Day (That Turned Out Okay), our mission has been to provide real access to mental wellness and literacy tools to the most precious members of our communities by gifting free books and education to elementary school classrooms and community-focused groups.
And we’re growing fast!
Wheat Penny Press has since formed our own 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity, the WPP (Wheat Penny Press) Little Readers Big Change Initiative, Inc.
One or our favorite campaigns is an ongoing national book tour that offers FREE virtual and in-person assemblies and writing workshops to spectacular students in grades PreK-8 in under-resourced schools, libraries, and communities. Thousands of children have already benefited from the generosity of our community, and our backlog of requests is LONG.
All options support our general programs fund, which provides critical literacy learning kids, special events, and community org collaborations. Here are several examples of how your one-time gift can be put to use:
For just $25 – buys one critical literacy learning kit for a student.
For $250 – fills a partial classroom with kits for each child, and your gift will be combined with another donor to give an entire classroom an in-person or virtual appearance by one of our authors.
For $500 – fills an entire classroom with kits!
For a generous gift of $2500 – provides a full grade level with kits for each child and an in-person or virtual appearance by one of our authors, or pays for an in-person community event where families receive free books, workshops, and more.
$5,000 Little Writers Big Dreams Workshop – sponsors a middle-grade writer’s workshop program led by one of our authors and featuring guest appearances by publishing industry experts.
$15,000 Future Bestseller Program – an incredible opportunity to make the full printing, distribution, and marketing of one talented young writer’s first published book possible.
Each critical literacy learning kit includes a book, a colorful character bookmark, stickers, and special tools to help them practice the lessons from the books.
Your gift to the WPP Little Readers Big Change Initiative, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity, is 100% tax-deductible. In addition to your gift confirmation that will be emailed immediately upon checkout, you will receive both an electronic and physical receipt of your gift at the beginning of the following calendar year.
